Registration - You can participate in this online
ground school as either a visitor, registered student, or enrolled student. Registration
is free and gives you extra benefits that a Visitor misses. Enrolled students pay
a small "tuition" for even more features and special content including
extra lessons and podcasts.
Classes - These are multimedia lesson in the most
important piloting topics. Although student pilots will use these to learn the aviation
issues covered in exams, all pilots will find them to be important reviews of the
essentials. The lessons are multimedia intensive - you will need a fast computer
and high speed connection to view them. The Private Pilot lessons are totally
free. You must be enrolled to use the Instrument Pilot and Elective
lessons.
Resources - There is a large selection of knowledge
resources available here. It's not all just in the lessons. Take advantage of the
Pilot Message Forums to interact with other pilots and instructors. This is the
quickest way to get answers to your specific questions of all types.
Planning - Registered students get a Customized
Planning Page containing local weather options, tracking of important dates, and
flight planning tools. They're all free - you simply need to register and include
all valid data in your profile.
Library - The Library contains an assortment of
FAA documents in .pdf format. If you need it, you'll probably find it there. Additionally,
there is a selection of "white papers" covering a spectrum of aviation
topics. Finally, you'll find some really interesting articles in the Library as
well as a directory of flight instructors listed by city and state.
Podcasts
- In this section you will find a list of audio presentations. They include everything
from discussions of confusing subjects to interviews with key aviation professionals.
You may listen to streaming audio on your computer if you have a high speed connection.
Otherwise, you may download and play the audio on your computer or portable .mp3
player.
